John Denver became a star with the folk-based songs that he wrote, many of them situated in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He fell in love Colorado and settled down in Aspen. Denver's state anthems inspired many to visit Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the hall's curator of fame, stated: "I don't believe there any other performer who embodies Colorado as John Denver." Denver is the Hall of Fame's inaugural inductee was recognized by the honor in 2011. Today he personifies the state to people around the world. When you encounter people from other countries, like New Zealanders and tell them "I am originally from Colorado" And they respond with "Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads is Denver's only Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist following his time in small Folk Music Groups. The song was composed in collaboration with Bill Danoff. Danoff originally wrote it to Johnny Cash's tune with a focus on Johnny Cash, however Denver realized from the first time he heard the earlier versions that it would be a big success. The song was performed at Washington D.C. to a huge crowd, the singer recorded it just days from now.
